NEW STUDIES 1
The Kyolic Garlic & Aerobic Fitness Trial
Arterial stiffness is a cardiovascular risk factor, which increases naturally with age. Kyolic garlic has been shown to improve the flexibility of arteries, and slows down blood flow, which may improve oxygen uptake, associated with aerobic fitness.
NEW STUDIES 2
Cognitive ability, including memory and problem solving, declines with normal aging. For some people, this decline is more rapid, resulting in a condition known as mild cognitive impairment (MCI). MCI can lead to neurological conditions including Dementia, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease. Photobiomodulation (Red Light Therapy) and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) are emerging, non-invasive treatments that may improve cognitive function and/or slow cognitive decline.
This 6 month exploratory study aims to analyse the effect of Red Light Therapy, with or without additional HBOT, on cognition and brain health in people with mild and moderate cognitive impairment. This is a pilot study that will inform future NIIM studies surrounding brain health.

Cardiometabolic Health
Cardiometabolic health is a term that refers to the impacts on heart health of a group of conditions sometimes referred to as “Metabolic Syndrome.” These can include abdominal obesity, insulin resistance, high cholesterol, and raised blood pressure.
NIIM Clinic – AGPAL Accreditation
The NIIM Clinic has applied for accreditation with Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited (AGPAL). On 5 May, APGAL surveyors attended NIIM Clinic to undertake the first survey for accreditation.
Circulating Tumour Cells (CTC) Study
This observational CTC study uses the ISET® system to detect Circulating Tumour Cells (CTC) and other rare cells in the blood. Screening for CTCs can assist in early diagnosis of potential malignancy.
NIIM Pathogen Blood Test Research Study
The study has been approved by an NHMRC registered ethics committee, and is registered on the Australia New Zealand Clinical Trial Registry.
AGE at Heart Trial
We have now completed the trial! Many thanks to all participants & practitioners supporting this study. We have begun analysing the data, and have mailed participants their individual results.
