Mental Health

Mental health is an integral component of overall well-being. NIIM embraces an integrative approach to mental health, recognising the interconnectedness of mind, body and spirit.

What is mental health?

Integrative mental health care is a rapidly emerging area that takes into consideration the whole person in order to help them overcome mental health issues and attain optimal mental wellbeing.Where traditional mental health services focus on psychological and social therapies, integrative mental health also includes evidence-based complementary therapies such as nutrition, exercise, sleep, and other modifiable lifestyle factors. The focus is less on prescribing medications and more on uncovering a range of factors that could be contributing to poor mental health, including an individual’s hidden trauma systems, nutritional status, and biological factors that may contribute to or exacerbate psychiatric symptoms.
